| "For young persons just starting out in the world of work, apprenticeship has important advantages. It offers an efficient way to learn skills, for the training is planned and organized and is not hit-or-miss." U.S. Department of Labor, 1969 |

Small Employer Incentive
In response to demand, the Government has introduced a new incentive to encourage thousands of small firms that don’t currently employ apprentices to take on a young apprentice aged 16 to 24. This will support up to 40,000 new Apprenticeships.
The incentive is for employers with up to 50 (and in some cases up to 250) employees and comprises a payment of £1,500 payable in two stages.
It will be available to small firms in all industries and for Apprenticeships at all levels from April 2012.
|
Employer Subsidy To Employ A Jobless Young Person
From April 2012, an incentive of £2,275 will be available for small employers who employ a jobless 18-24 year old for a period of 6 months. The subsidy will support work and training placements.
The Apprenticeship incentive focuses on enabling small employers to recruit new employees aged 16-24 into sustainable jobs that provide the opportunity for the young person to achieve a national recognised qualification.

What Are Apprenticeships? |
|
They are work-based training programmes designed around the needs of employers, which lead to national recognised qualifications. You can use Apprenticeships to train both new and existing employees. Funding is available to train apprentices.
Apprenticeships are designed by the Sector Skills Councils, while the National Apprenticeship Service helps to fund the training. Business representatives from the relevant industry sector work with the Sector Skills Councils to develop the course content. Because they genuinely understand your business, the training will be relevant for your industry.
Over 100,000 employers in over 160,000 workplaces offer frameworks across a wide range of industry sectors.
Depending on the sector and job role an Apprenticeship can take anything between one and four years to complete. It is a package of on-the-job training and qualifications.

Thank you very much for the recent training and consultancy you have carried out for Bizgen Ltd.
From the very start you and your colleagues have been a pleasure to work with, not just in relation to the training but also with regards to the administration of same.
After helping us to identify the training we needed as a team, you went on to help us apply for a grant to pay for a large percentage of it, prompting us and providing us with the information we needed at every stage.
The training itself was carried out to a very high standard while remaining enjoyable. Furthermore, you demonstrated an excellent ability to "role with the punches" and adapt the session to both the needs of the individual without losing sight of the team. This was very much appreciated by all involved and even after only a couple of short weeks, and with the follow up yet to be carried out, we are already seeing the benefits.
