What progress has been reached so far, I wonder ….?

“We are delighted to announce the launch of the second publication in our Securing Britain series: Securing Britain’s Talent, in partnership with ICAEW.

Why Securing Britain’s Talent, and why now?

Almost one in five economically active 16 to 24-year-olds in this country is unemployed. Any conversation with any industry leader will tell you that the private sector has serious doubts about whether our education system is equipping young people with the skills and education they need for the workplace today, and for the decades to come.

At the same time, business leaders know how tough it is to find and retain the best talent. The UK, and London in particular, is one of the most competitive labour markets in the world, yet so many businesses simply can’t find the skillsets they need. When they do, it’s often only a couple of years before an employee moves on.

And the leadership strata of this country is still overwhelmingly white, middle-class and male.

Securing Britain’s Talent addresses all of these issues, helping British businesses and the government better grasp how to secure talent for themselves and for Britain, and as a result generate the business and economic growth this country desperately needs.

  • Create the leaders of tomorrow
  • Tackle youth unemployment
  • Work towards more balanced and diverse boards
  • Overcome skills shortages in IT, engineering and other key areas for growth
  • Ensure businesses develop the pipeline of talent they need to succeed….”
