What is in the Course?

  • Database design: understanding types of information stored; use of data entry form; use of indexes and primary key to organise data.
  • Working with data integrity: working with data types and data validation; methods for maintaining integrity of existing data; identifying types of data entry errors.
  • Modifying tables: adding, amending and deleting fields; setting field characteristics; working with data types and field properties; formatting tables; using wildcards and search operators to find data.
  • Using forms: selecting and updating fields; creating new records; finding and replacing data; using search operators; error checking; formatting forms; using lookups; spell checking; working with data entry errors.
  • Creating queries and reports: sorting and filtering with queries; setting single and multiple criteria; saving and running queries; creating and formatting reports; changing report design and working with field properties and layout; working with wizards and shortcuts.
  • Identifying problems: dealing with redundant data and duplications; how a table should be structured; reporting and dealing with application errors.
