Who is this course designed for?

This course is designed for existing users of Excel who have attended the Microsoft Excel Foundation and/or Microsoft Excel Intermediate Part 1 courses, or who already possess these skills. In this course, you will learn how to streamline your spreadsheets by using efficient list management tools to summarise, interpret and analyse your data. You will also learn how to use advanced formatting techniques and advanced chart types and chart options.

What is in the Course?

  • Working with lists: Sorting data in ascending/descending order and using AutoFilter; using advanced filter; applying subtotals; grouping and outlining data; applying data validation to cells; using formula to determine valid entries for cells; creating pivot tables and charts; judging when and how to use these methods.
  • Analysing data: Using what is analysis and data tables; creating and viewing scenarios; setting up views; printing reports.
  • Formatting techniques: Formatting text, numbers, and dates and times; applying percentages and decimal places; adding borders and shading; changing column widths and row heights; merging, wrapping and aligning cells; adjusting rows and columns; hiding rows and columns; freezing panes.
  • Creating and modifying charts: Creating a chart and identifying appropriate chart types including Pie, Bar, Single Line, Area, Column, X-Y Scatter, Stock, Radar, Doughnut and Surface charts; formatting chart elements; moving and resizing charts; adding text and images to a chart.
  • Printing: Setting print areas; spell checking; using page break preview and print preview; changing page set up; working with headers and footers; changing page orientation and size; printing.
